Shedd Aquarium VP of Facilities to Present Keynote Address at 2012 TFM Forum

Robert Wengel, Shedd Aquarium’s vice president of facilities and Today’s Facility Manager’s 2012 Facility Executive of the Year, will present the Keynote Address at the 2012 TFM Forum.

Wengel was recognized by Today’s Facility Manager for his integral role and oversight of the historic Chicago aquarium’s five-year facility plan, and his success in integrating sustainability into the aquarium’s overall daily operations. TFM’s Facility Executive of the Year award is the facility management industry’s most prestigious form of recognition; Wengel was selected after judges reviewed nominations from all over the country.

Beginning his career at Shedd as maintenance carpenter in 1995, Wengel currently oversees the Maintenance, Operations, Environmental Services, and Safety and Security departments as the vice president of facilities.  In addition, he manages about 20 maintenance service contracts, including elevators, chiller and fire systems testing and maintenance, roofing and tuck pointing, and landscaping services.  As a graduate from Lewis University in Chicago, Wengel is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a licensed aircraft mechanic.
